SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSEARCA: SPY)
SPY is currently trading around 765.50 as markets begin October and Q4 after closing out September and Q3 yesterday. Today's primary macro catalyst arrives at 10:00AM ET with ISM Manufacturing, giving traders an updated look at business activity, new orders, employment, and input prices. If buyers defend 765.50, a move toward 771.50 may develop, followed by 777.50 if momentum builds. Sustained strength above 783.50 would improve the short term structure and reinforce buyer control.
If SPY loses 765.50 with conviction, sellers may press into 759.50. A breakdown there could expose 753.50, while continued weakness may bring the 747.50 region into focus. With Friday's NFP still ahead, traders should be careful about interpreting today's manufacturing data as the final word on either growth or labor conditions.
The first session of a new month and quarter can also bring fresh institutional allocations following yesterday's month end and quarter end rebalancing. That creates the potential for flow driven price action alongside today's macro releases, particularly if the ISM data produces a meaningful move in Treasury yields.
Invesco QQQ Trust Series 1 (NASDAQ: QQQ)
QQQ is currently trading around 745.00 as technology enters Q4 with a constructive structure but remains highly sensitive to rates. Today's ISM Manufacturing report could influence yields through its Prices Paid and Employment components, while Friday's NFP remains the week's larger labor catalyst. If buyers defend 745.00, price may advance toward 752.00, followed by 759.00 if momentum strengthens. Sustained strength above 766.00 would indicate continued institutional demand across growth stocks.
If 745.00 fails to hold, sellers may drive price toward 738.50. A deeper breakdown could expose 732.00, while continued weakness may bring the 725.50 region into play. Watch Treasury yields and semiconductor participation for confirmation of whether any post-ISM move has broader support.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL)
AAPL is currently trading around 332.75 and continues to hold a relatively constructive structure despite recent volatility. If buyers defend this pivot, price may rotate toward 338.00, followed by 343.25 if momentum builds. Sustained strength above 348.50 would reinforce the bullish short term structure.
If 332.75 breaks lower, sellers may test 327.75 quickly. Continued downside pressure could extend into 322.75, while deeper weakness may bring the 317.75 region into focus. Relative performance against QQQ should remain useful for evaluating institutional demand as the new quarter begins.
Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT)
MSFT is currently trading around 518.50 and remains firmly above the psychologically important 500 level. If buyers defend this area, price may advance toward 525.75, followed by 533.00 if momentum builds. Sustained strength above 540.25 would reinforce the recovery and continued institutional sponsorship.
If 518.50 fails to hold, sellers may press into 511.50. A deeper pullback could test 504.50, while continued weakness may bring the 497.50 region into play. Maintaining acceptance above 500 through this week's macro data would keep the broader structure considerably more constructive.
NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA)
NVDA is currently trading around 230.25 and remains an important leadership gauge for semiconductors and the broader technology complex. If buyers defend this pivot, a move toward 237.50 may develop, followed by 244.75 if momentum strengthens. Sustained trade above 252.00 would indicate continued upside expansion and stronger semiconductor participation.
If 230.25 fails to hold, sellers may test 224.25 quickly. Continued downside could extend into 218.25, while deeper weakness may bring the 212.25 region into focus. With NFP arriving Friday, NVDA's rate sensitivity keeps Treasury yields particularly important over the next two sessions.
Alphabet Inc Class A (NASDAQ: GOOGL)
GOOGL is currently trading around 350.75 and continues attempting to improve after its recent period of relative weakness. If buyers defend this level, price may rotate toward 357.25, followed by 363.75 if momentum improves. Sustained strength above 370.25 would reinforce the developing recovery.
If 350.75 fails to hold, sellers may guide price toward 344.75. A breakdown there could expose 338.75, while continued weakness may bring the 332.75 region into play. Continued participation alongside QQQ would strengthen the case that GOOGL's relative performance is improving.
Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ: META)
META is currently trading around 726.25 and remains one of the stronger mega cap names despite recent volatility. If buyers defend this pivot, a push toward 734.25 may develop, followed by 742.25 if momentum builds. Sustained strength above 750.25 would reinforce the bullish structure and continued institutional demand.
If 726.25 breaks lower, sellers may guide price toward 718.75. A deeper pullback could test 711.25, while continued weakness may bring the 703.75 region into focus. META's relative performance should remain an important gauge of institutional appetite for large cap technology.
Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA)
TSLA is currently trading around 356.50 and continues to consolidate within its recent recovery structure. If buyers defend this pivot, a move toward 365.00 may develop, followed by 373.50 if momentum continues. Sustained strength above 382.00 would reinforce bullish momentum and indicate stronger speculative demand.
If 356.50 fails to hold, sellers may test 348.50 quickly. Continued downside pressure could extend into 340.50, while deeper weakness may bring the 332.50 region into play. With NFP approaching Friday, broader changes in risk appetite and Treasury yields could have an outsized influence on TSLA.
Final Word: Today's economic calendar begins October and Q4 with manufacturing taking center stage. Final S&P Global Manufacturing PMI arrives at 9:45AM ET, followed by ISM Manufacturing, Prices Paid, New Orders, Employment, and Construction Spending at 10:00AM ET. The headline ISM reading provides a broad look at factory activity, but the underlying components may be more important for markets. New Orders offer insight into future demand, Employment provides another labor signal ahead of Friday's jobs report, and Prices Paid can influence inflation expectations and Treasury yields.
Today's session also represents the first trading day of a new month and quarter. After yesterday's September and Q3 close, institutions may begin putting fresh allocations to work, meaning some early October flows can be driven by portfolio positioning rather than a change in fundamentals. That can add another layer to today's price action as markets simultaneously digest the manufacturing data and continue processing yesterday's PCE inflation report.
The larger catalyst remains Friday's September Non Farm Payrolls report. Markets will receive payroll growth, unemployment, wage growth, participation, and revisions, giving traders the most comprehensive new look at labor conditions. Following yesterday's PCE data, NFP completes an important two-part picture for Federal Reserve expectations: inflation on one side and employment on the other. A strong labor report combined with persistent inflation could reinforce expectations for additional tightening, while softer employment alongside moderating inflation could produce a very different rates outlook.
That makes today's ISM Employment component especially interesting as an early labor signal, but traders should avoid treating it as a substitute for Friday's report. With ISM today and NFP tomorrow, Treasury yields are likely to remain one of the clearest indicators of how markets are interpreting the incoming data. Add fresh Q4 positioning into the mix, and the next two sessions could set an important early tone for October. Good luck and trade safely!
